Abstract

The development of tourism industry is boosting the competition amongst hotel business too. In this increasing competion the hotel employees are the key factors for competitive advantage of the hotels. However, burnout which is emerging negatively effects the prodcutivity of employees in the competition. Employees working in hotel business are often facing with the heavy work load, long working hours, low wages. The aim of the study is to determine the burnout level and the relation between burnout levels and the demographic variables of employees impact on their burnout.. 171 questionaire forms which has structured as the Maslach Burnout Inventory were considered to evaluate which was done in Girne (Kyrenia). Female employees live high level of burnout according to the males. No significance has been found between emotional exhaustion, depersonalization and demographic variables which are consist of age, education and vocational education contrary that education has significant impact on personal accomplishment.
